Praise can, ironically, be disempowering to employees. After all, if I praise you today, I can criticize you (quite harshly) tomorrow. But acknowledgements put the power in an employee’s hands because they simply give objective feedback, and allow the person being acknowledged to evaluate and interpret what it all means.
